If you follow my writing, you'll know that I've written a ton of headphone reviews. Recently the folks at Xcentz asked me to check out a pair of their new xBuds S1 headphones and give 'em a spin. I'm sucker for decent quality with a low price tag, so looking at the $21.99 price tag on Amazon is sweet even if they're almost disposable.
The Xcentz xBuds S1 come in a little rubbery carrying case which is okay but nothing special, and it's kind of a bummer that the case doesn't double as a charger as we're seeing in a lot of these headphones. It's not a huge deal, but I really dislike the chosen location of the charging port found on the earphones themselves. The charging port is located on the top of the right earbud, so not only is it in a bad place, but any MicroUSB charging cable - including the super short one that's included barely fits in the charging port, and it feels like you could easily snap the port with a slight movement. The back edge of the in-ear part seems like a far more effective location to have located this charging port, but I'm just a reviewer, not an engineer.
Charging critiques aside, these are actually pretty good quality headphones for being inexpensive. While these don't have head rattling bass, they're also not super tinny and they actually do a pretty good job staying connected without continually having to resync if you move more than a few steps away from your device. I've had them connected to both my iPhone X as well as my work Chromebook without any issues. The earbuds sit in my ears pretty decently once I changed the included silicone covers to a smaller size, though I wish the plastic that goes behind the ear was able to be adjusted slightly because the bar sits across the front of my upper ear and natural movement of my head will eventually wiggle them out of place.
All things considered, you won't find a much better quality pair of wireless headphones for less than this cost. These are great for cutting grass or working out without worrying that you're going to lose your super expensive higher quality headphones doing something that might easily destroy them. Even if these had fallen out and gotten ran over by the lawnmower, it wouldn't have been a huge deal since I've paid twice as much for worse quality earphones and these are almost cheap enough to wear a few times and throw away without sacrificing your hard earned money.
If you're looking for some wireless earbuds that sound good and are super cheap, the xBuds S1 are perfect for you.
The xBuds S1 are available currently for $21.99 on Amazon, and were provided for review by Xcentz.
